YuMe is seeking a hands-on Senior Algorithms Engineer who will be responsible for the development of optimization algorithms and prototypes for our company’s services platform. This includes the deployment and development of large-scale online ad targeting systems that utilize machine and statistical learning methods. This position is located in our Redwood City, CA office.
Responsibilities:
• Interface with fellow software and R&D engineers to implement and create advertising optimization models for video advertisements that utilize advanced machine and statistical learning methods.
• Implement and develop algorithms that are used with large scale data for optimizing and forecasting return on video advertising spend.
• Deploy and build real time online video ad targeting system that uses these algorithms and models.
• Maintain up-to-date awareness of competing products and how our platform compares to them.
• Work closely with the testing team to design intelligent testing strategies.
• Conceptualize software requirements based on both external and internal inputs.
Apply and tailor best practices in software processes and quality to achieve fast cycle time development.
• Develop tools, software and processes to prepare user data.
• Ensure all data has the proper metadata information via proper reporting from data scripts to database tools.
• Build validation to ensure all data adheres to strict accuracy and quality specifications.
• Ability to work teams spread across time zones.

Qualifications:
• MS in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or Computer Science. (PhD is a plus).
• Strong knowledge of data structure, modeling, replication and distributed data/object relational database mapping.
• 10 plus years of coding and system design using Java/J2EE, XML, SOAP, Web Services.
• Strong problem solving and analytical quantitative abilities.
• Must have hands on experience in high volume, high availability environments.
• Prior work experience in online advertising industry is required.
• Working knowledge of statistical machine learning, modeling, recommend systems concepts, and data mining through real-world ad problems
• Experience with deploying, architecting and building reliable algorithms-based ad optimization systems that work at scale.
• Able to deal and model sparse, large datasets.
• Must have solid OOP techniques utilizing Java.
• SaaS platform or Search Engine Marketing experience is preferred
• Must be skilled with software development tools such as Eclipse, Ant, JUnit, CVS.
• Must be skilled in shell scripting.
• Development experience using Linux, Apache, Tomcat, MySQL technologies is mandatory.
• Strong working knowledge of distributed systems technology; Web based technologies, Application Servers, application and database performance tuning approaches and tools.
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
